Govt to Transform Lipica Stud Farm

Ljubljana, 20 April

The government discussed the restructuring possibilities for the Lipica Stud Farm on its session on Thursday, and tasked the Culture Ministry with managing the transformation of Lipica's status as a public institution.

The ministry said in press release that the first phase of the restructuring procedure will include the establishing of a body governed by public law comprised of two organisational units.
While the first unit, the stud farm, will be performing the public function, the second unit, hotels and catering, will be subjected to corporate law.
After the economic side is consolidated, the government will reexamine the possibility of transforming one of Slovenia's most prominent tourist attractions into a company.
The restructuring analysis was drafted by a working group appointed by the government last September.
The Culture Ministry announced it would consider the analysis when drafting the proposal for an amendment to the Lipica Stud Farm act, which is expected to be adopted later in the year.
