Lyon, 05 April

Interior Minister Dragutin Mate and Director General of the Slovenian Police Joze Romsek reiterated Slovenia's support for Interpol and its future projects as they visited the organisation's headquarters on Wednesday.

According to Interpol, Mate said Slovenia would participate in an Interpol pilot project that will enable countries to provide information contained in Interpol's database to critical locations such as border crossings or airports.
Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble applauded Slovenia's decision: "We are extremely pleased that Slovenia is such a proactive member of the Interpol community."
"The decision to second another officer to Interpol and to take part in this important pilot project underscore the commitment and the foresight of the country's leaders," Noble added.
Slovenia has been a member of Interpol since 1992 and also hosted the organisation's 24th European regional conference in 1995.
The 184 member countries make Interpol the world's second largest international organisation.
