LJubljana, 6 April

The Slovenian government decided that two Slovenian soldiers would be taking part in the European Union's mission in support of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two soldiers would be deployed in the EU mission that is to aid UN peace keepers in ensuring security during elections scheduled to be held there in June.

The government has tasked the Defence Ministry to carry out all necessary preparations for the deployment. The parliamentary defence and foreign policy committees will be informed of the government's decision.
The two Slovenian soldiers are to be part of a EU battalion of 1,200 to 1,500 troops that are to be deployed in DR Congo for four months around election time. Their main task will be to deal with security dangers during the elections.
