French PM Dominique de Villepin stressed France's diplomatic engagement in resolving the humanitarian crisis in the western Sudanese region of Darfur, as he responded to the recent initiative by Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek.
De Villepin moreover pointed out the large role that France and its European partners have played in humanitarian actions, Drnovsek's office said on Thursday.
Indeed, the country has already deployed armed units from its Chad military base alongside the Sudanese border, de Villepin wrote in response to a letter by Drnovsek in which the Slovenian president called for international action in solving the crisis there.
Meanwhile, Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov also supported Drnovsek's Darfur initiative as well as his establishment of a Movement for Justice and Development.
Parvanov believes that the Movement wants to unite efforts of the international humanitarian community to establish a world order based on different moral values.
He also wrote that Drnovsek's actions will "touch the hearts of world leaders, organisations and ordinary people throughout the world", the president's office said.
Drnovsek's early January appeal entitled "World for Darfur" calls for supplying a refugee camp in the Sudanese region. He later also drafted a peace plan for the stricken region.
Meanwhile, his Movement for Justice and Development wants to unite all positive-thinking people, who want to solve domestic and international issues.
