Anzej Dezan to Represent Slovenia at Eurosong

Ljubljana, 29 January

Anzej Dezan has won the EMA, the competition which decides Slovenia's entry for the European song contest, with a love song "Plan B".

Dezan, who is only at the beginning of his singing career, will try to make it past the semi-finals in mid-May to appear at the 51st Eurosong in Athens two days later.
"It feels incredible. This is like my most hidden dream coming true," Dezan - visibly thrilled - told TV Slovenija upon winning the EMA 2006 contest.
The winner made a name for himself as a runner-up at a talent contest on a popular Sunday evening TV show around two years ago.
At the time he lost against Omar Naber, who then represented Slovenia at the Eurosong last year, but failed to make it to the finals.
It was Naber who presented the EMA 2006 title to Dezan. While Naber was last year extremely calm when he learnt he would be the one to travel to Kiev, Dezan could hardly hide his excitement.
Dezan's winning song was only one of 14 entries competing to win the EMA 2006. The winner was decided in telephone voting and by a special commission.
Dezan beat out singer Sasa Lendero and former Miss Slovenia Rebeka Dremelj, who placed second and third, the reverse spots they secured at last year's EMA against Omar Naber.
