The Slovenian Culture Ministry published a public tender on Friday for cultural projects that would promote Slovenian culture abroad in 2006.
With a budget of SIT 58m (EUR 242,000), the ministry intends to finance projects in the fields of cultural heritage, visual arts, performing arts, music, literature and new media art.
The main goal is to support quality projects in order to promote Slovenia in other EU states and at international events. The long-term aim, however, is to set up cooperation with foreign partners.
Priority are given to those projects which will be carried in Austria and Finland during their respective stints as EU chairs in 2006, as well as in Greece as part of the project of European Capital of Culture, Patras 2006.
Projects carried out in Portugal, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Hungary will also be prioritised, the ministry said in a press release, adding that the projects will be selected by an expert commission. The tender is to close on 15 June at the latest.
