Skufca and Venturini Win Gold at UK Dance Championships

Bournemouth, 20 January

Slovenia's Andrej Skufca and Katarina Venturini beat 226 other professional couples in Latin dances, winning gold at the UK Dance Open Championships that took place between 17 and 19 January in Bournemouth.

The Thursday's result is Skufca and Venturini's best ever since they joined the professional arena in 2002. The pair is regarded as the best Slovenian dancers of all times.
They have already won the world champions' title in amateur competition in 1996, 1997 and 1998 in the combined competition of standard and Latin-American dance. They were also the world's best Latin-American dancers in 2001.
Standard dancers Domen Krapez and Monica Nigro meanwhile finished 19th overall.
The annual UK Dance Open Championships features professional and amateur standard and Latin championships, as well as the Rising Star competition.
