Slovenia got good news in the form of a deal on the 2007-2013 EU spending plan last week. Despite bleak forecasts in the run-up to the EU summit, the leaders of the bloc managed to hammer out a deal in a marathon session that lasted into the early hours of Saturday. The deal has been welcomed by Slovenian officials. Prime Minister Janez Jansa is adamant that the public supports the structural reforms promoted by the government. According to him, there are different views about various measures that are being proposed, but overall the public remains supportive.
