The 15th international eChallenges conference, taking place in the Slovenian capital from 19 through 21 October, will discuss modern information and communication technologies.
The acting head of the Directorate General for Information Society at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology said that Slovenia will be the first among the new EU members to host the event.
He labelled the e2005 conference a key industrial and research event which will focus on innovative use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the host country.
The aim of the conference is to facilitate the transfer of innovation in the field; to present the achievements of the European Framework Programmes FP6 and eEurope 2005; and outline regional, national and international initiatives in the ICT field.
The event will also help present the objectives of the FP7 Framework Programme. As the successor to FP6, FP7 focuses on joint technological initiatives and international cooperation.
Various presentations and workshops at the event will deal with issues, application and case studies connected with e-business, e-government, e-democracy, digital content and education, among a wide range of subjects.
The eChallenges consortium, which is staging the event, expects over 500 delegates from leading commercial, government and research organisations around the world, which will cooperate in over 270 presentations.
The conference will be attended by Higher Education Minister Jure Zupan, Head of Network and Communication Technologies Directorate at the EU Information Society and Media Directorate General Joao da Silva, head of Telecommunications and Post at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and others.
