Representatives of 32 Slovenian companies are to take part in a presentation of Slovenian companies on the Ukrainian market which is to take place from 4 to 7 October in Ukraine, the Chamber of Commerce (GZS) said on Tuesday.
The companies, sponsored by the GZS and the Association of Slovenian-Ukrainian Friends and Businesspersons, are to be presented at a business conference and two international fairs, Aqua-Ukraine 2005 and Lisderevmash 2005, GZS's press release reads.
There are 14 Ukrainian-Slovenian joint ventures or Slovenian companies in Ukraine. In 2004, 245 Slovenian exporters and 194 importers did business with Ukraine.
Trade between the two countries has been on the rise, increasing from US$ 10.8m in 1992 to US$ 179.3m in 2004, according to the GZS. Last year, Slovenian exports stood at US$ 138.1m and imports at US$ 41.2m.
Slovenia exported medicines, telecommunication devices and vinyl floor coverings in 2004, the trade of which reached the highest growth in addition to mechanical devices.
The imports from Ukraine in the same year were dominated by fuel, oils of bituminuous minerals, and iron and steel wires and bars.
