Senior coalition parties are pleased with the work they have done since they won the general election on 3 October last year. "The people as well as the business environment can be pleased," head of the Social Democrats' (SDS) deputy group Joze Tanko told the press on Monday.
According to Tanko, the elections brought about not only a change in government, but also a substantial political turnaround. The state has become much more citizen-friendly, he stressed.
The state has lowered the costs of administrative procedures, started to tackle its own expenses and reduce the number of public administration employees, and drafted a number of crucial laws, Tanko enumerated.
Tanko summed up by saying that economic indicators are good, new companies are being established, new jobs are being created and inflation is under control. Moreover, the state has started to withdraw from the economy, "which some people dislike."
Meanwhile, New Slovenia (NSi) leader Andrej Bajuk underlined the historical role that his party has played. Election day marks the start of a political turnaround that is still unravelling.
Bajuk was confident that the coalition was firm, and stressed that key issues are being tackled although it is impossible to expect that the government would do all the work in the first few months.
