Agriculture Fair Seen as Sign of Upturn for the Food Industry

Gornja Radgona, 2 September

Organisers of the 43rd Agriculture and Food Fair in Gornja Radgona have assessed the week-long event as successful and a sign of better times for agriculture and the food industry.

Janez Erjavec, the director of Pomurski Sejem, the organiser of the fair, said the event attracted nearly 135,000 visitors, while over 2,400 people took part in the 70 seminars, lectures and round-table debates.
The seminars and debates examined the effect of climate change on agriculture, the potential of wood biomass, the fate of the sugar sector, the phasing of EU funds and the state of horse breeding in the country.
For Boris Jez, the secretary of the meat industry association at the Chamber of Commerce (GZS), the event is a good sign for the industry, as most companies from the sector have come back to the fair to promote their products and services.
Moreover, he praised the signing of an agreement between the GZS and the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry (KGZS) on joint promotion of Slovenian food products.
