Maribor University Celebrates 30th Anniversary
The University of Maribor will mark its 30th anniversary with numerous events between 16 September and 16 November, including the main ceremony on 20 September in front of the university seat, the university representatives told the press on Monday.
This year is also a jubilee year for two university members, the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Law, founded 45 years ago. For this occasion, the Law Faculty will host an international conference on 16 September, focusing on the Bologna declaration.
At the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, a consultation on fluid technology is to take place from 22 and 23 September. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering will provide the venue for the Slovenian Days of Chemistry 2005.
The university, which has 13 members, is also organising an international symposium on religions as a factor in peacekeeping and development in Southeastern Europe, to be held between 6 and 8 October.
Furthermore, The Kranj-based Faculty of Organisational Sciences, which is part of the University of Maribor, will play host to the third Merkur Day, a conference on electronic businesses. The programme is to end on 16 November with Chancellor's Day.
The jubilee year also saw a close of numerous investments. New dorms worth SIT 2.96bn (EUR 12.35m) were built in Lent, the famous medieval part of Maribor. The new facilities, which are to be open on 20 September, offer additional 253 beds.
