Editorial
The government adopted a bill on the declaration of a protective ecological zone and continental shelf in the Adriatic. The bill defines Slovenia as a successor to the 1968 agreement between Italy and the former Yugoslavia, giving it the right to protect its own interests in the continental shelf by declaring an ecological zone. Maybe this is the way to resolve the dispute over the border.

Simplified Procedure for Obtaining Visas for Short Tourist Visits to Slovenia
The Slovenian Government has adopted a proposal for the simplification of the visa procedure for short tourist visits to Slovenia. The relaxation of the visa regime relates to transactions with authorised travel agents for tourists coming to Slovenia for short visits and applies to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Russia, Turkey and Serbia and Montenegro. Number of Small Businesses Rising after Years of Decline
The number of small businesses and sole proprietorships increased in 2004 after three years of decline, and continues to rise this year. Their number was up by 1.2% to 47,463 last year, whereas the number of employees increased by 0.7% to 100,620, according to the Chamber of Trade (OZS). More »

The Veronika Award for best collection of poems of 2005 went to Ivo Svetina. The poet received EUR 3,300 and a deed of the city of Celje for his collection "Lesbos" at an award ceremony in Celje on Monday evening. More »
