The Slovenian minority in Italy and the Italian minority in Slovenia presented at Monday's news conference two joint EU-sponsored projects, aimed at developing tourism and promoting farming products of the two minorities.
The projects, called MIN-TOUR and AGROMIN, make part of the EU programme Interreg III A Italy-Slovenia and are valued at little less than 750,000 euros. They are being carried out between April 2005 and April 2007.
The objective of MIN-TOUR is to expand and restructure what tourism has to offer in the border area, which comprises the coastal and Karst regions in Slovenia, and Trieste and Gorizia region Italy.
The restructuring is to provide for sustainable development, and versatile and modern tourist services, which are to highlight local particularities of the area.
The project is carried out by companies Euroservis in Italy and Italijanska unija in Slovenia.
The main goal of the project AGROMIN is to establish a common cross-border offer of typical local products, notably farming products such as olive oil, honey and wine.
AGROMIN will be carried out by the associations of Slovenian farmers in Italy and Italian farmers in Slovenia.
