New Swing Quartet Awarded at "A Cappella" Competition

The New Swing Quartet, Slovenian vocal quartet famous for recreating the tradition of black and white spiritual and gospel music, has added another award to their extensive collection by winning two prestigious prizes at the "a cappella" competition in Graz.

At the 5th "Vokal Total" competition for jazz, pop and gospel ensembles, taking place from 25 to 28 July, the quartet has earned the top award in the category of gospel and the first prize of the jury.
The jury was composed of Ward Swingle (US), Michele Weir (US), Matthias Becker (Germany) and James Moore (US).
Set up 37 years ago, The New Swing Quartet is made up of Dare Hering (first tenor), Oto Pestner (second tenor), Tomaz Kozlevcar (baritone) and Marijan Petan (bass).
Over almost four decades, they have performed throughout the world, presenting their modern interpretations of all forms of American spiritual music.
The New Swing Quartet are compared to the celebrated black gospel vocal bands such as The Golden Gate Quartet and Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and have won many prestigious awards and recorded a total of 40 albums.
