Govt Adopts Euro Campaign Strategy

Ljubljana, 2 June

The government adopted Thursday a strategy for the information campaign on the country's euro adoption, which is due to be launched in the first months of 2006.

One of the key goals of the campaign, to be carried out by the government PR and Media Office and the Bank of Slovenia, is to establish public trust into the new currency, due to be introduced in 2007.
The campaign is scheduled to continue several months after the euro has already been introduced, in order to provide the public with practical information such as where to change the old currency and how to recognise forged money.
The strategy for the campaign was drafted by the government, the central bank, the Chamber of Commerce as well as some non-governmental organisations. The expected costs of the campaign have not been revealed.
