Public Administration Must be User-Friendly, Official Says

Portoroz, 25 May

A leading official on the public administration has underscored the need to make the public administration both user-friendly and efficient.

According to State Secretary at the Public Administration Ministry Gorazd Perenic, a key step to achieving this is improving access to the public administration.
Speaking on the final day of a three-day conference on the public administration in the seaside resort of Portoroz, Perenic said the government was focusing its efforts on making information accessible to all residents of Slovenia.
Much money and effort have been invested in facilitating access by foreign residents in Slovenia, he said on Wednesday.
According to Perenic, the information provided by the public administration must be user-friendly. This means that the language must be easy to understand and the information complete.
Moreover, information must be provided in a timely fashion, he said, adding that the public administration itself must work on an internal exchange of information in order to speed up answers to questions from the public.
We cannot afford to have cases where a person is given different answers about the same problem from two departments of the public administration, Perenic stressed.
The three-day event was organised by the Public Administration Ministry.
