Days of Indian Culture in Ljubljana

Ljubljana, 22 April

Days of Indian Culture, organised by an Indian-Slovenian friendship association, started at the Slovenian Philharmonics with a concert of traditional Indian music. The association wanted to present the colourful and diverse Indian culture to Slovenia.

At the concert, Indian music was played by Lazslo Kovacs Lalit, guitar and sitar player, and Peter Szalai, player of a classic Indian instrument tabla. Both musicians studied with several Indian masters of music.
On 25 April, Ljubljana Castle hosted an evening of traditional Indian dances, where dancer Ujwal Bhole performed the South Indian dance "bharata natyam", which was already danced as a form of religious worship 1500 BC.
At the library Prezihov Voranc, storyteller Andreja Vukmir interpreted classical Indian stories "Savitri" and "Shakuntala" on 26 April, the last event at the festival.
