Ljubljana Boasts New Water Park

Ljubljana, 21 April

BTC, the largest shopping and entertainment hub in Ljubljana, got bigger on Thursday with the opening of the Atlantis water park, which will start receiving visitors on Friday. The SIT 6.6bn (EUR 27.5m) project is the company's largest investment to date.

According to BTC, Atlantis is one of the largest indoor water parks in Europe. It features three theme parks, namely World of Excitement, Thermal Temple and Sauna Land.
The complex has 14 pools, including a wave pool, as well as fast and lazy rivers, two water slides and whirlpools, with a total water surface area of 1,800 m2. The sauna section features 11 different indoor and outdoor saunas.
The chairman of BTC, the shopping hub operator that invested in the project said that the water park is a great challenge for Europe. "Europe has noticed BTC City but not for the stores that everyone has in excess," Joze Mermal said.
According to Mermal, Slovenia will also soon have too many stores, so BTC has shifted its focus on leisure and entertainment where more needs to be done.
"There will surely be another hotel or two constructed, an eminent store and entertainment programme, but there will be no major expansion as neither Ljubljana nor the neighbourhoods around BTC need it," he said.
