Extreme Cyclist Encircles Slovenia in Record 46 Hours

Ljubljana, 17 April

Marko Baloh has managed to tour Slovenia on his bicycle in 46 hours and three minutes, finishing on Sunday at 11.03 AM in Ljubljana. Baloh has thus improved his personal best from 2003, when he did practically the same route in 50 hours and 10 minutes.

"I'm very happy to have improved my time from two years ago, which only confirms that I'm in a much better shape than back then," Baloh said as he crossed the finish line after 1,170 km.
"I had a good average speed of a bit below 30 km/h, which enabled me to improve by personal best by more than four hours," said Baloh, who did the route in the reverse direction than in 2003.
He started off in Ljubljana, heading for northwest (Kranj, Kranjska Gora; the mountain pass Vrsic); going south towards the city of Nova Gorica; and Koper on the coast; proceeding towards Novo mesto in southeast, then on to Ptuj and the northeasternmost point of Lendava; returning towards the capital through Maribor; Velenje and Kamnik.
