"Ruins" Gets First Award Abroad

Bari, 13 April

"Ruins", a feature film by Janez Burger, has received a special award at the 6th Festival of European Cinema in Italy's Lecce in what is the first international recognition for this drama about art and emotions.

The film was the indisputable winner of the 2004 Slovenian Film Festival, where it won practically all awards, including for best film and best director. Its international premiere was in January at the international film festival in Rotterdam.
The Lecce festival, which ran from 6 to 12 April, awarded it with the special award "Reale Mutua Assicurazioni" given out by an international jury chaired by Italy's Gillo Pontecorvo, the film's producer Emotionfilm said Wednesday.
Ten films from Germany, Spain, Macedonia, Russia, Slovenia, Great Britain, Italy, Hungary, Poland and Ireland competed for awards at the festival.
