Actor Jurij Soucek was honoured with the 2004 Viktor for lifetime achievement, as the most prestigious awards conferred on people in the media and pop culture were given out on Saturday evening.
Although he is retired now, theatre actor Soucek never rests. During his rich career he has lended his voice to a number of cartoon characters, appeared in many radio plays, and has been involved with puppet theatre.
In 1994, Soucek received the highest award for lifetime achievement in theatre, the Borstnik Ring.
While Viktors were given out in 13 different categories, the Viktor for "lifetime achievement" and that for "outstanding achievement" were selected by the Academy, a forum composed of the organisers of this glamorous ceremony.
One Viktor for outstanding achievement went to Natasa Tic Ralijan and Gasper Tic. The couple have created a funny character for "Home Again", the Sunday prime time family show. Ana Liza, as is the name of this witty character based on sexual innuendos, is played by Natasa Tic Ralijan.
The other outstanding-achievement Viktor was received by a team who developed a real time animation software for the TV show "Hri-Bar". Animated by the team from company Sekvenca, the cartoon-like politicians or other media people actually parody themselves in interaction with the TV host.
The majority of the media popularity awards were, however, selected by the public vote organised by the entertainment magazine Stop, the organiser of the event, and the commercial POP TV, which broadcasts the award-winning ceremony.
