Half of Energy Supply Will Have to be Imported

The government has adopted an energy plan for 2005 in which it outlines the volume of energy consumption and primary energy sources. The figures suggest more than one half of the energy Slovenia will need would have to be imported.

According to the plan adopted on Thursday, oil derivatives are to account for 35.2% of the planned primary energy supply, followed by nuclear energy (21.8%), solid fuels (21.6%), natural gas (12.8%), hydro-power (4.6 percent) and wood (4%). The deficit of available electricity is calculated to amount to 2,181 GWh and is to be covered by an increase in domestic production, in addition to imports, the government said after weekly session.
