Peterle Wins European Award

Berlin, 1 December

Slovenian MEP Alojz Peterle has been conferred an award by the Luxembourg-based foundation Merite Europeen for his merits in the process of European integration.

Peterle - member of the centre-right New Slovenia (NSi), which makes part of the European People's Party (EPP) - accepted the award Merite Europeen in Gold in Berlin.
The prestigious international award had already been given to numerous European politicians, including the former Austrian Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner, former German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher and former president of the European Commission Jacques Santer.
