The German capital is hosting an exhibition on Slovenia's contemporary architecture. The show entitled "The Building Site Slovenia" opened last Friday.
The idea for the show was given by the Academy of Art after it has put on a number of similar shows on architecture in Eastern Europe.
The Berlin show, organised by the Slovenian gallery DESSA, will feature Slovenian architecture since independence (1991), focusing on the last five years. 23 buildings were selected by Vladimir Slapeta, Miha Desman and Andrej Hrausky.
Part of the show will be a historical overview of contemporary Slovenian architecture with the main emphasis placed on one of the most distinguished Slovenian architects, Joze Plecnik (1872-1957).
Edvard Ravnikar (1907-1993) is another architect featured as one of the main people behind the development of architecture in Slovenia. Ravnikar is considered by many experts to be underestimated, possibly overshadowed by Plecnik.
