The Directorate General for Energy and Transport has chosen a Slovenian project of power and gas transmission as a recipient of funds from the EU's trans-European energy network (TEN-E) programme.
In what is the first Slovenian project to be co-funded by the TEN-E, a study of a new 400kv power line between Slovenia's Okroglo and Italy's Udine will be awarded EU grants covering half of the project's costs.
The total costs are estimated at EUR 450,000, with the other half to be provided by Slovenia's national grid operator Elektro Slovenija, which had applied for the grant together with the manager of the Italian power grid, GRTN.
Elektro Slovenija stated that the study will provide for a safe and reliable operating of the line, which is of great importance for Slovenia since its grid has often been stretched to the limit.
