The Prague-based Leo Burnett advertising agency was crowned agency of the year as the 11th Golden Drum advertising festival drew to a close Friday evening. Apart from winning the Golden Rose, the agency also claimed the Golden Net for best international advertising chain.
Juries conferred a total of five Golden, 24 Silver and 37 Bronze Drums in six categories of ads. Slovenia bagged one gold, two silver and four bronze awards. The winners were selected among 2,078 entries.
This year the image of the prizes changed. Instead of sticks, the winners accepted statuettes of Nike, the ancient Greek goddess of victory, with drums in her hands.
A special addition to this year's show was a live video clip workshop, featuring six acclaimed European directors, who directed an ad on the theme "Naked Truth".
The Grand Prix of Viba film studios, which comes with one day of free use of facilities and services of the high-tech studios, was conferred on Slovenian director Saso Podgorsek.
Apart from him, one-minute clips were also shot by Konstantin Charmadov of Russia, Zsolt Erdely of Hungary, Lukasz Kosmicki of Poland, Robert Sveda of Slovakia and Jan Krofta of the Czech Republic.
Most of the ads entered for this year's festival came from Slovenia (275), followed by the Czech Republic (264), Poland (227), Romania (201) and Russia (200).
The competition was toughest in the printed ads category with 1,035 entries vying for awards. Juries also viewed 518 TV commercials, 136 media and TV promo clips, 120 web pages, 95 advertising campaigns and 38 radio ads.
