Minister Cvikl at informal meeting of Ministers of European Affairs in Amsterdam on Tuesday, Minister of Culture at the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair this week.

Tuesday, 5 October
· Minister of European Affairs Milan M. Cvikl will attend an informal meeting of Ministers of European Affairs in Amsterdam, which is being held by the Dutch presidency, to discuss ways in which citizens can be more involved in the European Union and its institutions.


Wednesday, 6 October
· General Director of the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Bojan ®mavc will attend with a delegation the regular semi-annual meeting of directors from European Union countries responsible for civil protection, at which the overview of activities for this year will be given. The directors will agree on guidelines for work in the future in the framework of the European Union in the field of civil protection.


Thursday, 7 October
· Minister of Transport Marko Pavliha will attend a meeting of the EU Council of Ministers of Transport, Telecommunications and Energy, at which he will present the viewpoints of the Republic of Slovenia on the topics to be discussed in the field of transport.
· Minister of Culture Andreja Rihter will attend the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
· Minister of Defence Anton Grizold will attend the 6th meeting of ministers from Central European member states of CENCOOP – Central European Nations’ Cooperation in Peace Support. The Ministers of Defence will discuss the future role of CENCOOP, and cooperation with the UN, the OSCE, NATO and the EU. Austrian Minister of Defence Günther Platter and his Slovene counterpart Anton Grizold will submit an initiative for the forming of a CENCOOP training centre based in Graz.

Friday, 8 October
· Hanoi, Vietnam will host the 5th EU – ASEM Summit on 8 and 9 October, which will be attended by Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers of Foreign Affairs from EU member states and the 13 Asian countries of ASEM. The Slovene delegation will be led by Minister of European Affairs Milan M. Cvikl.
