Slovene Railways have made a new step in the expansion of the international transport network known as Network Europe which connects Europe by direct train. As of today, Ljubljana is also connected to Istanbul with this system.
Previously, direct trains have connected Ljubljana with Munich, Bologna, Belgrade and Milan, and a goods train called East Express will transport freight towards Istanbul from now on. On this occasion, the general managers of Slovene, Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin railways have signed an agreement on the establishment of a new railway connection. Slovene Railways also plan a connection with Prague and some other cities in order to complete the offer in the field of freight transport, which is their main pride.
