Modern Army Fair with “Stronger – For Peace” Slogan
The second international Modern Army (Sodobna vojska) fair was held at the Pomurje fairground in Gornja Radgona, this year under the “Stronger – For Peace” slogan.
The Modern Army is a trade show of military defence know-how, technology and equipment. The event is designed to help the Slovenian Armed Forces forge stronger links with the general public and to strengthen relations with the armies of neighbouring countries. This year’s fair also involves the Austrian, Croatian and Hungarian armies; nor is it any coincidence that the fair takes place in Gornja Radgona, the junction point between the four neighbouring countries. The fair, however, is also designed to promote contacts between suppliers and buyers of military hardware, arms, security equipment and other products for military use. The trade show features 84 commercial suppliers from 16 countries of military equipment, services and catering for the military.
Results from last year's trade show were good, reflecting the exceptional interest expressed in the fair. This year’s event takes place in exhibition halls, over an area of 5,000 square metres, and over 26,000 square metres of open-air exhibition grounds. The Slovenian Armed Forces offered an exhibition and dynamic presentations of their equipment and military preparedness, while the Croatian army presented special military equipment used in the mission to Afghanistan, as well as some telecommunications equipment. The Austrian army presented their involvement in peace keeping missions as well as combat and medical assistance vehicles, while the Hungarian army displayed their uniforms and equipment alongside special monitoring systems.
