Eurostat reports that last year Slovenia registered a budgetary deficit at 2% of the gross domestic product, which is the lowest budgetary deficit recorded since 2000.

According to Eurostat Slovenia’s budgetary deficit was 2.4% of GDP in 2002, 2.8% in 2001, and 3.5% in 2000. Slovenia recorded public debt at 29.5% in 2003 and 2002, 28.1% in 2001, and 27.4% in 2000, according to Eurostat statistics.
