Maribor Once Again in Autumnal Embrace of Old Vine

Maribor, 21 September

This Autumn, Maribor will be dominated by a traditional event entitled "In the Embrace of the Old Vine" (V objemu stare trte), celebrated from 22nd to 25th September.

The main event will be held at the Grajski trg and Glavni trg squares. The first two days will be marked by an exhibition of flowers, fruit and pumpkins. The third day of the event held in the regional capital of Štajerska will see presentations of wines from the Maribor area, traditional Pohorje cuisine and ecological farms with organic produce from the region. The final day will be devoted to culinary connoisseurs, with chefs excelling in dishes from the cauldron gathering there. One point of particular interest is the fact that the oldest vine in the world grows in front of a house situated by the Drava river at Lent. The vine, now over 400 years old, symbolises the rich wine culture of this cheerful part of the Štajerska region, and at the same time, represents a crossroads where the wine roads leading to and from Maribor and its surroundings meet.
