Cooperation with Assistance
Slovenia's support to Serbia and Montenegro on its way to Europe was at the forefront of talks between Ljubljana and Belgrade last week.
Slovene Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl has paid a visit to Belgrade at the invitation of Foreign Minister of Serbia and Montenegro. Talks between the two counterparts were dominated by Serbia and Montenegro’s EU prospects and the question of how Slovenia, as an EU member state, can assist Serbia and Montenegro, whose main obstacle on the road to accession is its cooperation with the Hague tribunal.
Vajgl expressed Slovenia’s readiness to transfer know-how and experience and stressed that Serbia and Montenegro’s future hinges on membership in the European Union. The Centre of Support for Accession to EU will offer help to the Western Balkans countries.
