Puppets 2004 (Lutke 2004) Festival: Highly Imaginative

Ljubljana, 14 September

Over the past few days Ljubljana has been marked by puppets, with some 24 selected puppet shows from ten countries offered up to the public.

At the puppet festival, organised by the Puppet Theatre of Ljubljana (Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana), a total of 31 puppet shows were staged at various venues, together with four concerts and an exhibition, entitled Jože Pengov – Absolute Puppeteer.

The festival board created this year's programme from a selection of over 100 international shows. The programme featured many performances based on literary classics, by authors such as Shakespeare, Cervantes, Homer, Hoffman and Linhart. The variation in performances, stemming from the varied historical backgrounds of the countries of origin, proved highly interesting.
