Matti Vanhanen, Prime Minister of Finland, paid a visit to Slovenia last Monday at the invitation of Slovene Prime Minister Anton Rop.
The two Prime Ministers discussed cooperation, particularly in the field of science and technological development, as well as a number of European issues. Prime Minister Rop stressed Slovenia's efforts to raise the level of investment in research and science to three per cent of GDP, in line with the guidelines of the Lisbon strategy, which outlines the objective of making the European Union the world’s most competitive economy by 2010. They also discussed a number of European issues, particularly the Constitution and the European budgetary guidelines for the next period.
