At the elections held on 15 October 2000 the following parties reached the 4% threshold for entering parliament:
- LDS (Liberal Democracy of Slovenia) - 36.21%
- SDS (Social Democratic Party of Slovenia) - 15.80%
- ZLSD (Associated List of Social Democrats) - 12.07%
- SLS+SKD (Slovenian People's Party) - 9.53%
- NSi (New Slovenia - Christian People's Party) - 8.77%
- DeSUS (Democratic Party of Pensioners of Slovenia) - 5.16%
- SNS (Slovenian National Party) - 4.38%
- SMS (Youth Party of Slovenia) - 4.33%
One deputy each was elected to represent the Italian and Hungarian ethnic communities. They were elected by members of these ethnic communities according to the majority system.
