Ex-Prison Turned into Stylish Youth Hostel

Ljubljana has finally gotten its first real, year-round youth hostel.

The hostel on Metelkova Street 9, evocatively named Celica (The Cell), opened in what used to be a prison inside a military compound. It is no dreary affair though - it is bright and stylish and promises to be more than just a place to stay. Each room is uniquely designed and it tells its own story, while the hostel has quickly become a tourist place of interest, information centre, and a cultural meeting point of alternative artists.
