The registration terms for a correspondence office or correspondent of a foreign newspaper agency or foreign medium (accreditation) are determined by the Media Act. The application for registration should be submitted to the:

Correspondence Office
In accordance with the Article 123 of the Media Act the application for the registration of a foreign correspondence office must include the following:
- Name and headquarters of the foreign newspaper agency or press creating the correspondence office;
- The name of the medium;
- Information on the registration of the foreign newspaper agency or medium in its home country;
- The seat of the correspondence office in the Republic of Slovenia;
- First name and last name of the head of the foreign correspondence office.
The head of the foreign correspondence office may be a person accredited in the Republic of Slovenia as a foreign correspondent.
In accordance with constitutional and legal provisions, all applications and documents must be submitted in the Slovenian language or in a verified translation.
Along with the application it is necessary to pay a state stamp duty in the amount of 17,73 EUR (Stamp Duties Act, Official Gazette of Republic of Slovenia, No. 8/00)).
The registration permit for a foreign correspondence office is valid for one year. The right to perform foreign correspondence activities in the Republic of Slovenia may be extended. The application for renewal of this right must be submitted by the foreign newspaper agency or foreign medium before the validity of the previous permit expires.
Foreign Correspondent
The application for the registration of a foreign correspondent must, in accordance with Article 123 of the Media Act, include the following:
- First and last name of the foreign correspondent;
- Date, place and country of birth;
- Citizenship;
- Country, place, date of issue and number of travel document or of identity card, if the correspondent is a Slovenian citizen;
- Permanent address of a foreign correspondent.
The application must include also the following:
- Accommodation arrangements in Slovenia;
- Two photographs;
- A brief Curriculum Vitae;
- Employment certificate or a contract on co-operation with the foreign newspaper agency or other medium.
A foreign correspondent not employed by a foreign newspaper agency or the publisher of a foreign medium and without an official contract for performing activities may, by way of exception, request registration under the following three conditions:
- If the application for registration is submitted in accordance with section 6 of this Article, in accordance with indents 1, 2 and 3 of the preceding section;
- If the application includes proof of actual cooperation with a foreign agency or foreign medium;
- If an international press card is submitted.

The competent ministry issues the decision on the accreditation of a foreign correspondence office and the decision on the accreditation of a foreign correspondent in the Republic of Slovenia. The foreign correspondence office or correspondent receives the right to perform media activities in the Republic of Slovenia from the day on which the decision is finalised.
On the day the decision is finalised, the competent ministry issues the applicant an accreditation identity card that is valid until the validity of the decision expires.
