Dr Gregor Virant
Dr Gregor Virant was born on 4 December 1969 in Ljubljana. He holds a PhD in law from Ljubljana University and also studied at Glasgow Caledonian University.
He is a senior lecturer at the Ljubljana University Faculty of Administration. From 1995 to 1999 he was an adviser at the Constitutional Court. From June 2000 to August 2004 he was state secretary in charge of public administration. He is a member of the Republic Electoral Commission, a member of the Council of Officials, Slovenia's representative on the OECD public administration committee (until August 2004) and a member of the European working group of Directors-General responsible for public administration (June 2000 to August 2004). Dr Virant has published numerous articles on constitutional and administrative law and public administration and is the author of the university textbook Pravna ureditev javne uprave (The Legal Regulation of Public Administration).
