30 Aug - 1 Sep 2006 — Ljubljana Official Visit of Chinese State Councillor Tang Jiaxuan Chinese State Councillor Tang Jiaxuan will begin an official visit to Slovenia at the invitation of Prime Minister Janez Janša, the first high-level state visit by a Chinese official to Slovenia in four years. He is will meet PM Janez Janša, President of the Republic Janez Drnovšek, and Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel.
30 Aug 2006 — Ljubljana PM Janez Janša’s Presentation of the Proposal for Tax Reforms PM Janez Janša is to meet presidents and deputy group chairs of coalition parties to unveil the proposal for tax reforms. The tax reform package will also be presented to the Development Partnership council. Prime Minister is to be joined by Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk in presenting the reforms to trade unions, which is to be followed by a press conference by Minister Bajuk and Finance Ministry State Secretary Andrej Šircelj.

25 Aug 2006 — Brussels EU foreign ministers about the participation of member states in the UN mission in Lebanon EU foreign ministers are to convene an extraordinary meeting at 3 PM to debate the participation of member states in the UN mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Slovenia, which will be represented by FM Dimitrij Rupel, has not made a final decision on its contribution yet.

The day is not a bank holiday. The central ceremony, at which PM Janez Jansa is to be the speaker of honour, will take place on Friday.
