The arts centre Cankarjev dom is to host the national ceremony at 8 PM marking Independence and Unity Day (26 Dec), with Speaker France Cukjati to address the ceremony. An hour earlier, MPs are to meet for a ceremonial session for the same purpose, with Deputy Speaker Saso Pece the keynote speaker.

Marc Danzon, the head of the European WHO office, is to arrive on a two-day official visit to discuss with Health Minister Andrej Brucan cooperation between WHO and Slovenia, as well as the opening of a WHO office in Slovenia. An agreement between the ministry and the regional office is to be signed on Friday.

The EU is to hold a ministerial meeting on the 2007-2013 spending plan after the British EU presidency outlined its proposal on Monday. The proposal envisages cuts in cohesion funds, which would affect new EU members. State Secretary for European Affairs Marcel Koprol is to take part on behalf of Slovenia.

Defence Minister Karl Erjavec is to continue his five-day visit to the US, where he is attending a three-day meeting of the SE European Defence Ministerial (SEDM). On Tuesday he is expected to meet US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. He is to visit the US air base in Norfolk on Wednesday, and meet members of the US Congress on Thursday and Friday.

OSCE Ministerial Gets Underway Today
The two-day OSCE ministerial meeting will get underway in Ljubljana on Monday morning in what will be the culmination of Slovenia's one-year stint as chair of the security organisation. The ministerial will formally open with an address by FM Dimitrij Rupel, the OSCE chairman, followed by addresses by Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek, Slovenian PM Janez Jansa, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Alcee L. Hastings and OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut.
