PM Janez Jansa and FM Dimitrij Rupel, who is also the OSCE chairman, are to attend celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the legendary Polish trade union, Solidarity. Jansa is scheduled to meet British Deputy PM John Prescott on the margins of the event as part of consultations about the 2007-2013 spending plan.

The 43rd International Agriculture and Food Fair, one of the biggest fairs of its kind in the region, is due to get underway. Prime Minister Janez Jansa is to deliver the opening address at 10 AM. Jansa and Agriculture Minister Marija Lukacic are scheduled to meet representatives of the Farmers' Union at 11 AM. This traditional event, which will close on 2 September, is set to feature 1,490 exhibitors from 22 countries.

Slovenia's Longest Tunnel Opens for Traffic
Slovenia's most important motorway will connect the country's NE and SW as the last missing stretch is inaugurated today. Eight years in construction, the Trojane-Blagovica section, including the country's longest two-tube tunnel, will open for traffic on Saturday morning. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 6 PM with the short ceremonial speech given by Prime Minister Janez Janša.
