Main ceremony on the occasion of Independence Day, 26 December
The parliament is to hold a ceremonial session at 7 PM to mark the 14th anniversary of the independence referendum. A national ceremony is to follow in the arts centre Cankarjev dom at 8 PM to mark 26 December, Independence Day. Ceremonial speech will be given by Prime Minister Janez Janša.

The EU summit in Brussels, attended by Prime Minister Janez Jansa and Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, is expected to pass decisions about the start of EU membership talks with Turkey and Croatia and adopt guidelines for further talks on EU's 2007-2013 financial perspective.

A two-day summit in Brussels will discuss the start of EU membership talks with Turkey and Croatia. The European Council is also expected to draw up guidelines for further talks on the new financial perspective and confirm the timetable of EU presidencies between 2007 and 2020.

Transport ministers from Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Hungary are to meet in Budapest on Wednesday. Slovenia's Janez Bozic will join his counterparts to review old and harmonise future activities concerning the fifth pan-European corridor. The ministers are also expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on this issue.
